Crossing the Wire

Imagine yourself alone and hundreds of miles from home. You are trying desperately to reach the North– the United States where you hope to find a job and send money back to your family. Just walk North across the border right?

It is not that easy. Dirty dealing people will offer to help and then steal your money, or you could die from the desert heat, be shot by the border patrol or the criminals who also are on the trail. This faced paced adventure book by Will Hobbs looks at the issue of immigration from a teenage boy who just wants to help his family survive.

What do you think about the main character?

Wow. That sounds like a great book. The main character sounds like a very persistent, brave person. I’ll definitely read that book because I’m pretty sure it is a Black Eyed Susan Nominee.

WARNING: stop reading now if you have not read the book.

I loved the book and cried multiple times(then again I cry in almost every book I read)I liked how he joined up with Rico in the end. I also honored Rico’s decision to go back and help his parents.
