The Uglies by Scott Westerfield

An interesting science fiction story about a futuristic world.  In this world when children turn 16 they undergo an operation to be made “pretty”.  Their bones are ground  down to the correct proportions and faces are all given proper “pretty” looks.  But does the operation take away individuality too?  What happens if you don’t want the operation?  But why would anyone want to remain ugly– especially when everyone else is pretty?  this book will make you think as it describes the adventures of teenagers in a creepy future world.

If the first book is the uglies and the second book is the pretties then I think that the third book should be the pretty uglies.

I started reading the Uglies becuase my friend recommended it to me. I HATED IT! It was so boring, and if you are one of those people who like sci-fi books, these are for you. I am not into all that stuff. It was really hard to understand because they had these weird boards that you could fly on but it was really hard to balance on them but you had to wear a magnet braclet so if you ever fell off the magnet would pull you back up to the board, super stupid!

(specials) and it is fabuolus! The words are all mixed up and they have cool new objects!

The Uglies series is the best series ever! I think that pretties is the best! There are four books. Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Extras.

I’ve heard of these books but have never read them. Are they any good. Why do you like/hate them?
